3d measurementFor an As Built model

Visualizing existing situation graphically

3D surveying of buildings is an innovative method of determining the exact dimensions of a building.

Traditional 2D surveying will no longer beat our laser scan surveying in this day and age.

Working with a good As Built model brings numerous benefits to the construction industry.

One is time savings, thanks to virtual views linked to collected data via a 3D scan of the site.

This data is then fed into the 3d model, ensuring a perfect fit once the building design is built.

Working in an intelligent design model offers several advantages for your project. Some of the key benefits are listed below:

  • Efficiency and cost savings: By using 3d surveying, construction projects can be carried out more efficiently. For example, it can be used to order material more accurately and plan accordingly, leading to less waste and lower costs.
  • Better quality and accuracy: 3d surveying allows building professionals to create accurate, detailed and high-resolution models of buildings, reducing the risk of errors and inaccuracies.
  • Increased safety: It provides the ability to virtually identify and mitigate risks before actual work is started. This improves site safety and reduces the risk of accidents.
  • Sustainability: 3d surveying can be used to anticipate the performance of existing buildings and incorporate sustainable design choices. This results in better use of natural materials and energy, leading to a more sustainable building.

How do we deploy 3d surveying?

From the moment the project is under development, we think about the implementation of the project.

The 3d measurement taken with a laser scanner is modeled into a point cloud. That is the collection of all (thousands of) measurement points. Those measurement points can be used to model in or to model an entire As Built model.

We use 3D models, which allow us to quickly and easily explore different options and ideas with the same current situation.

This allows us to take pictures of our designs from every possible angle and then discuss them with our clients in VR sessions.

The existing situation is fully mapped.

The fact that the model is WYSIWYG What You See Is What You Get – allows our customers to make changes before detailed drawings are created.

Why choose 3d surveying?

A 3D model provides a virtual representation of the object and it is easy to see what needs to be made.

This is an important advantage in realizing design intent.

3D models offer the ability to realistically visualize the store’s design.

For example, one can virtually walk through the retail space and use the virtual design to see how new elements fit within the space.

Virtual views can help test and compare different the design options, allowing designers to work more efficiently and arrive at the right design faster.

Later in the process, there are multiple advantages for technical development or project management.

How we use laser scanning for 3d measurement of your property

Laser scanning (point cloud measurement) is an advanced measurement technique used to capture the exact shape and dimensions of an object or space.

This involves the use of laser or photogrammetric technologies to provide highly accurate and detailed measurements.

The data collected is then used to create 3D models, which can be used to determine exactly where, for example, modifications or improvements are needed.

In addition to using 3D models, we also offer 3D surveying services through point cloud scanning.

The benefits of 3d surveying by point cloud scanning

High accuracy: Using point cloud scanning, buildings can be measured very accurately, with accuracies of up to a few millimeters. This leads to a detailed and accurate picture of the space.

Rapid measurements: Laser scanning is a fast measurement method that allows large objects or complex shapes to be measured quickly and efficiently. This saves time and increases the efficiency of the measurement process.

Non-destructive: Laser scanning is a non-destructive measurement method that does not damage the building or its surroundings. This is useful, for example, when surveying historic buildings and monuments.

Detailed 3D models: Point cloud scanning provides detailed 3D models of the building, which is why we also work hand in hand with point cloud measurements and 3d models.

Accurate and orderly work

Working with 3D models is more accurate than working with 2D drawings.

Everything can be determined exactly what adjustments are needed and how they should be made.

This makes it possible to assess in 3D whether everything is aligned correctly. For example, whether the cooling system exhaust is in the right place under the cooling system.

Once all parts are placed and worked out in the model, we can see if they fit together properly and if doors can be opened or inspection hatches are blocked.

The model allows us to quickly create quantity statements for cost estimates and budgets.

This makes providing input for estimates or procurement easier than ever before.
