Meet the crew

Meet the crew (Spring edition)

It’s been a while since the whole team has been together, but after all the lockdowns, we managed to get (almost) everyone together again. Last spring, Aku Kawerama and Olivier Steenhuis joined the team. Being together as a team is important. It determines how you work together and how you find each other. Independence is an important factor in our organization, but every role is a link in the process. So you have to be able to work well and pleasantly with the colleagues around you.

In our organization much attention is paid to:

  • teamwork
  • To trust
  • Responsibility
  • Feedback

Teamwork means putting the right people together and building mutual trust. Every team member knows his/her role and takes his or her responsibility: you don’t have to check each other (we do check a drawing: that ‘s quality control). The role of leadership is to facilitate the collaboration process and allow individual team members to contribute to the best result. And the feedback within this is very important for a team: by discussing how cooperation and individual performance is going, we can learn from each other from a positive but critical attitude. With this we build a learning team with a constructive communication climate.

The five important signs of a well-functioning team:

The interests of the organization come first.

If the team members work together with a clear goal in mind, they can bridge differences of opinion or differences of opinion. members of a well-functioning team understand that it is not the ego, but the team quality that takes care of the great importance.

Personal life is just as important as work.

As an employer, we know that work does not go well if it is not comfortable in your private life. If we ensure that the conditions are created to properly arrange the home situation, the work can receive the right attention. We do this by paying attention to:

  • not having a gender gap in salary
  • provide paternity leave (in addition to maternity leave)
  • no problem with parental leave, whether it’s one day a week or three months in a row
  • to offer training opportunities to everyone at all times
  • provide coaching for illness and recovery, which we start before you get sick

Strong teams cherish diversity

Analysis of leadership teams by managers shows that teams of diverse composition perform better. By this we mean not only in gender or age, but also in these characteristics: a scientist, an inventor, a social hero, a whiz kid, a creative, a strategist, a rock in the surf. Different types of talents provide more balance, less competition and that they are better able to take on challenges.

There is focus on results.

Strong teams are not teams where there is no discussion, but teams where the focus is on achieving the result. Everyone feels it is his and her responsibility to resolve the discussion. By wanting to work towards a joint good result, differences of opinion can be settled and discussion is not avoided, but entered into and resolved. In bad teams, people cannot get over that hurdle and the differences between them become bigger and bigger.

Strong teams attract talent.

Everyone wants to work in strong teams. Strong teams and the associated job satisfaction ensures that the appeal of the team is increased. Talent attracts new toppers and everyone wants to work in organizations that are successful. Building a strong team with people who work well together is a significant investment in time and effort. However, in order to attract the right qualities, you must continue to invest in the strengths of each individual member of the team and in the mutual relationships within the team.
