ProjectHotel Corendon Village
In 2018, the old Sony headquarters near Schiphol Rijk was converted into Hotel Corendon Village. In doing so, we contributed to the timely realization of the transformation with the secondment of a draftsman and work planner.
To achieve the transformation, a detailed demolition plan involved stripping the building down to its shell and then rebuilding it based on the new drawings.
Boeing 747
One part of the transformation that has been widely reported in the news is the relocation of the Boeing 747 to the Corendon Village. This 747, an old KLM aircraft ( the 747-000 City of Bangkok), was spray-painted in Corendon’s corporate colors and then transported via a route over highways and through meadows from Schiphol Airport to the Corendon village grounds. As an eye-catcher, this has become the highlight of the Corendon village.
Transformation
The transformation from office to hotel is not complicated by being within the pattern of the office building, but to convert the large office courtyards to hotel rooms required demolition down to shell.
The office floors have been transformed into the hotel rooms, and the common areas have been transformed into bar-restaurant and wellness center/spa.
Boeing
The Boeing 747-000 has a wingspan of 64.44 meters and a height of 19.4 meters. The Length is 70 meters. The plane has flown nonstop for more than 15 years, transporting about 6 million passengers during that time.
To get to the Corendon village hotel was a considerable road. It was transported across several pastures and it crossed the A9, with the highway briefly closed by the Department of Public Works to allow for transport.
