Meet the team! Cycling along drinking water production.
NewArmstrong has been working for a year now on the design for Mensink drinking water pumping station in Wijk aan Zee. For this location we design a building according to the sustainable principles of PWN. In this process we investigate how the design of the real estate of PWN can be designed in a way that it fits the 7 guiding principles for sustainability from PWN.
PWN is responsible for drinking water production in North Holland. This is done with water infiltration in the North Holland Dune landscape.

Unique nature reserve
The Noordhollands Duinreservaat is a characteristic example of a Dutch dune landscape. This area was created by an interplay of geological, geomorphological and climatic factors, as well as human intervention.
Habitat diversity: The reserve includes dunes with wet and moist valleys, dune grasslands, thickets, forests and marshes. This variety hosts a wide range of plant and animal species.
Transition from calcareous to calcareous: The area is on the transition from calcareous to calcareous dunes. The northern part, north of Bergen aan Zee, is calcareous, while the southern part is more calcareous. This affects the vegetation and plant species present.
Ancient forests: A significant portion of the reserve is forested with conifers and deciduous trees. Some of these forests are very old and contribute to biodiversity.
Natura 2000 site: The Noordhollands Duinreservaat is designated as a Natura 2000 site. Together with the Schoorl Dunes, it forms an important nature reserve in northern Kennemerland.
The dune landscape is home to a wealth of natural values, including rare plants, insects, birds and mammals. To protect these values, a Natura 2000 management plan has been drawn up for the Noordhollands Duinreservaat.
